I have arrived in Thailand safe and sound. Flights on Korean Air were on time and service was great. I read the Annotated Alice, which is a version of Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass that includes many notes on the inside jokes and stories that were always a part of Lewis Carroll's works. I have always loved "Alice" and found that it explains many things that have happened in my life in Wonderland. In addition, I watched Wall-E on the inflight entertainment. Shelby had seen it with our grandkids, and thought that I might like it, though she thought it a little strange. I was entertained, but agree with Shelby's analysis. I had a connection in Seoul, and flew straight to Chiang Mai, which was good since Bangkok was closed. The ruling party (PPP) has been forced to disband here in Thailand by the Constitutional Court, so the demonstratons are over for now, and the Bangkok airports will reopen soon. Arrived in Chiang Mai 20 minutes early, but took at least 45 minutes to get through immigration. More traffic at Chiang Mai due to the Bangkok airport closures. Bronson and Gip picked me up and took me to my new home, the farmhouse. After Skyping Shelby, I finally got to bed at 3:30AM.
Thai time is exactly 12 hours ahead of EST in the US- never changed my watch. My body has not yet adjusted ot the time. I ran out of gas yesterday at 5PM local time, slept for 2.5 hours after whch I did some work and fianlly went back to bed at 2:30.
Yesterday, Leon and I had some meetings to plan my teaching. I will be sharing the load with him somewhat. He is recovering, but still needs our prayers. He moves a bit slowly, and tires in the afternoon. He would especially appreciate prayers for an improvement in his sight, which has suffered considerably due to the strokes.
Dusti and Deanne and family are leaving on Friday, so the new schedule including my classes will begin next week. Nathan is teaching homiletics somewhat like a speech club and will begin to include research skills now that I have arrived with a pile of concordances. I will have the sermon on sabbath, and Nathan has the Bible Study Friday night, so we are coordinating our efforts- he will talk about the Trinity, and I will discuss the family analogy the Bible gives us to help us understand how God is one. I have much to do over the next few days to be ready to teach.
I learned yesterday that graduation has been moved earlier- to Feb 22. Since I plan to be here until March 1, I will be able to attend, which is nice.
I am taking pictures, and will include some the next time I post. Thank you all for your interest and your prayers.

Hey Brian!
ReplyDeleteWe're so excited for you!
Great to see you have arrived safely! I'm sure God will continue to bless your efforts to reach out to people (as he has for years). Let no man (or organization) stop you from teaching. You, and your family, will be in our prayers until you are safely back home!
Please give the Sexton's our love and tell Leon we are praying for his recovery.
Much Love-
Linda & Rick Pratt
