Cold Wave, and Refugee Camps

This is the 3rd dog I have seen with a sweater on. I don't get it. Here I am running around in shorts and a t-shirt, and these animals with permanent God-given fur need a sweater?

Shelby said she had no electricity for over 6 hours Wednesday due to the ice storm. Yeah, I miss home, but not TOO much. :)

Saow, on the other hand, does not fool with sweaters- no siree. She goes straight to the eskimo parka. OK, well it DID get down a little below 60 degrees last night, but really?!

In her defense, she does ride a motorcycle to work, and it is still a bit chilly until the sun gets up a little more...

Art, one of the other office employees here at the farm, just drives his car to work in the morning and switches with his motorcycle after lunch. I'm going to have to teach him what "wimp" means in English :)

You'd think we were in the Arctic!

Speaking of motorcycles, one of Art's friends was riding his (very nice and fancy) motorcycle over here to the farm a few days ago, and did not pay attention to the nasty cracks in the pavement I showed you in one of my first posts. He wiped out and had to go to the hospital...he's OK, but messed his face up a little (no helmet on). As they brought the bike here to the farm (it is still here), it sounded like a cross between a police car and an ambulance, since its alarm was sounding all the way. Did not quiet down until the bike stopped being handled. Nice machine- remote starter and all.

No eskimo wear for Nathan! Here you can see him getting in touch with his feminine side. (Maybe that explains all the flower photos?)

He showed up for Friday night Bible Study in a longi. Actually it is not feminine at all- it is perfectly normal menswear in Burma, from where he just returned. He said he liked it- very comfortable.

This morning, Nathan, Jay and La Nu Nan left for 2 of the refugge camps near the Burmese border, where we have 2 church families. The families could not get out of the camps for the Feast this year, so we missed seeing them.

Here is a map of the refugee camps in Thailand. I think our friends are in the 2 colored in purple. They are real close to each other. These camps are Karen (one of the tribes in both Burma and Thailand- in Burma, they have been fighting the government for years). Please pray for their safety and for all the details to be worked out so that they actually get to visit the families. It is not a simple process.
